Oakwood physicians treated patients for many types of summer ailments this week. Here is a quick roundup of what our doctors are seeing – and what you can do to make sure that these illnesses and injuries won’t ruin your Fourth of July plans:
- Oakwood Healthcare Center – Canton is reporting a high rate of cases involving insect bites, rashes, heat exhaustion and slip-and-falls around pools. When you plan to be outside for long periods of time, be sure to wear bug spray, drink plenty of fluids and don’t overdo it. If you start to feel weak, dizzy or nauseated, get to an air-conditioned or shaded area. Finally, enforce “no running” rules around personal and public pools.
- Paul Malick, DO at Oakwood Healthcare Center – Southgate has seen a lot of patients with upper respiratory illnesses, bronchitis and seasonal allergies. Remember: even during the summer, it’s important to wash your hands frequently and properly to avoid spreading illnesses.
From everyone at Oakwood, have a safe and happy Fourth of July!
